How to Keep Mosquitoes Away,
Clean Lampshades, Get Deodorant Off Your Black Shirt, and Get Candle Wax Out of
Wouldn't you love to know how to keep mosquitoes away, clean lampshades, get deodorant off a black shirt, and remove candle wax from a rug? You don't have to wait another minute! Here are some helpful tips using things you probably already have around your house.
After you have found the perfect spot, you want to shop for a shallow bowl that matches your decor. The garden section is a good place to start, though remember that the bowl must not have a hole in the bottom as most planters do. A ceramic bowl, or a terra cotta bowl is an excellent choice.
Next, pick out some rocks or stones that you like. The smooth ones are lovely and come in an assortment of colors. You need enough to fill your bowl.
A water feature cannot work without a fountain pump. They are usually found in the garden section of popular Home Improvement stores. The best pump is the small fountain pump (Beckett is an excellent choice) that is 120V, 60mz, and 4 watts. The pump comes with a little piece that fits in the spout, however, if you find you need more height for the flow, you may have to get a piece of tubing that will fit in the spout. Most likely, you will not have to get tubing.
When putting your water feature together, place the fountain pump on the bottom of the bowl in the center. There are suction cups to keep the pump in place. Fill the bowl with rocks and cover the pump. Make sure to leave room open around the spout for the water flow.
Fill the bowl completely so the pump is submerged and the water covers the rocks or comes to just under the top layer. The water flow is adjustable. You might want to do a test by the sink when you first plug in your fountain to avoid spraying water on your furniture. The flow does not have to be strong. A bubbling effect is lovely, and you can move the rocks to enhance the sound and flow.
The plug will drape over the side of the bowl towards the back and is usually not noticeable, however, you can hide it with the use of artificial plants.
Make sure the flow aims towards the room and not out the back. That will help to bring wealth and prosperity into your life.
This is so amazing and easy, you will wonder why you didn't think of it before. If you are out camping or watching fireworks under a July sky, pour some listerine into a spray bottle and spray it over your arms and legs to keep the mosquitoes at bay. Mosquitoes and Listerine do not mix, and they will head over to bother another unsuspecting sweet person.
Nowadays many deodorants claim to be streak free, however you may find after putting on your black dress or black shirt, that you have an unsightly streak of deodorant across the side of your garment. Not to worry! Simply get a pair of pantyhose or a knee-high and use it to wipe the streak off. It's like a miracle! You can also use your pantyhose to dust candles that are more for decoration than burning.
There is no question that lampshades are dust catchers and difficult to clean. When you notice your lampshade is dusty and dingy, grab a lint roller that looks like a giant roll of masking tape that allows you to peel layers like an onion. The lint roller will clean your lampshade in a jiffy! These particular lint rollers can clean most anything. Great to use after a haircut to get the hair off your shirt or skin. If you don't have a lint roller, you can use masking tape, but the rolling action makes it go a lot faster.
With kids and cats, candles can sometimes get knocked over onto the rug. The liquid wax will harden instantly, but getting it out of the rug can be a challenge. Simply get a brown bag and an iron. Put your iron on a low setting and cover the spill with the brown bag. You may use 4 or 5 bags, but when you iron it up, the wax will get soaked into the bag. If it was a scented candle, this will also leave your rug smelling lovely.
